OUR HISTORY
Our Company was formed in 1902 by William H Kirkwood as a modest building firm, with stonemasonry and brickwork being the main specialisms. Over the next 20 year period the Company incorporated joinery and slating departments.
In 1926 the business became a Limited Company, emerging into the housebuilding sector and public works sector, continuing into the 1970’s. Ian Macnaughton, our current Chief Executive, joined W H Kirkwood Ltd’s Management Team in the late 1970’s taking full ownership in 1984.
Ian Macnaughton drove the Company forward, modernising the workforce and breaking out into new sectors. Joining in 1997, Robert Macnaughton progressed to the role of Managing Director in 2007 and continues to successfully lead the business with full understanding of long-term sustainability, tripling annual turnover, respecting existing and building new client relationships, crafting a culture of excellence where W H Kirkwood Ltd not only meet client expectations, but exceed them.
