Overview

Barrhead Foundry offers a combination of learning, leisure and business facilities.

Re-opened in September 2018 following its £2.5m refurbishment, additional remedial and improvement works were identified within the main entrance reception and foyer. We were appointed Main Contractor to complete this works package within an immovable 3 week period.

Designed to increase security, ensuring valid public access to the facilities within the ground floor area we installed a fully automated entry barrier system, this also provided a safer working environment for the staff to control entry from a central point in the Reception.

Scope of work

In brief, our works comprised of:

  • Strip back of existing flooring and replace with non-slip screed flooring
  • Installation of transition strips
  • Cut recesses in floor for data trunking
  • Extension of Service
  • Columns to provide necessary services for new automatic gates
  • Re-clad Services Columns in new Altro Whiterock
  • Install new glass and steel automatic barrier system with laminated glass side screens
  • Redecoration of disturbed areas

Essential to the project was delivery within a live building and the minimisation of disruption to the ongoing activities within the Leisure Centre. Successful achieved through meticulous planning and continual monitoring of works.

The project was completed on time and within budget.
