Overview

We were appointed Main Contractor to create a dedicated Community Learning and Development Hub (CLD) within the School to promote youth work, community based learning and community development empowering people to work individually, or collectively, to make positive changes in their lives.

Outside of Bellshill Academy

The first stage of the project required strip-out to ‘shell’ state of the former Music Department on the ground and first floors, taking care of all asbestos and rot related works. Additional downtakings included the existing steps. To support the new floor layout the substrate was extended and strengthened.

Once exposed, all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and IT/Data alterations were carried out to service the new CLD Hub. Redundant pipes and fittings were removed. The new service installations improved energy efficiency and functionality.

Erection of the new internal walls and glazed screens set the footprint for the staff offices, meeting rooms, IT Suite, toilets and tea/coffee prep area.

Each room was fitted out with high quality fixtures and fittings, new carpets and bright interiors.

A dedicated entrance was created, slapping through an external wall, finished with decorative cladding and construction of footpaths.

This redevelopment has successfully created a modern, well-equipped supportive Hub which can be adapted for future use as required by the Client.
