Overview
Golden Jubilee Hospital is a flagship facility for heart and lung services committed to providing world class healthcare.
NHS Scotland’s review of existing departments prioritised requirement for a new Endoscopy Unit and Decontamination Unit providing diagnostic and surveillance testing. This review further identified an opportunity for a new Staff Lounge and an additional Autopsy Room within the main building.
Having demonstrated our substantial experience and capability our Company was appointed Main Contractor to carry out this major refurbishment and fit-out work.
Scope of work
Our remit was to convert two separate areas of the main hospital building to facilitate the new Specialist Units, additional Autopsy Room and improved Staff Lounge amenities. The existing layout of each area, comprising offices, stores and utility rooms, were stripped back to ‘shell’ state with temporary ‘doors’ and screens erected to confine works until new partitions were installed to define the new layout design.
Works were carefully phased, delivered on a ‘room by room’ basis to control dust and noise, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in and around the works area.
The new Decontamination Unit was fitted out with specialist laboratory equipment for the sterilisation of surgical equipment within the hospital and Hygienic BioClad wall linings. Specialist works within the new Autopsy Room included cantilevered lab furniture and work-benching.
We carefully managed and delivered this project whilst the building remained fully operational without adversely impacting on the day-to-day activities or compromising the safety and security of the hospital staff, patients and visitors.
