Scope of work

Our remit was to structurally redefine and fit-out the internal space to create an open and innovative environment for the students and improved facilities for the staff.

All levels of the building were updated to create open plan teaching rooms, a new library, additional study areas, staff offices, kitchen/tea rooms, cubicle style meeting rooms and secure stores throughout.

Within the new library/study space a mezzanine level was constructed to enhance the new space created.

We carefully managed and delivered his project whilst the building remained fully operational with students and staff in-situ. Working collaboratively with the Client we demonstrated ability to progress works with no negative impact to the week-to-week activities ensuring sensitive integration of University events, especially crucial exam periods. This ability of maintaining open communication and proactive approach was critical to the success of the project.

Additional challenges arose when became apparent during the strip-out that the existing building fabrics were in a poorer than anticipated condition, our staff’s knowledge and ability to identify issues at the earliest stage was essential in overcoming and suggesting solutions issues arising from this.
