Overview

Built in the mid 1970’s, 73 Logan Drive provides residential retirement and essential supported accommodation for over 60 people to live safely and well.

Driving forward their goal in maintaining a stimulating and fulfilling active-aging lifestyle, South Ayrshire Council identified the opportunity to create additional shared and private accommodations through conversion and adaptation of the existing layout together with a small extension.

Scope of work

As Main Contractor our remit was to strip out and convert an existing area, to create a fully accessible kitchen, communal activity/tv room, 2 additional staff bedrooms, office, resident’s laundry and full access to the rear shared gardens.

Keeping with current standards, all works were fully compliant with current DDA regulations, safeguarding free movement around these new facilities and outdoor space.

Works were carried out whilst the Home remained fully operational, with exceptional care being taken during the ‘services’ integration works ensuring essential amenities such as the intercom systems and in-room emergency alarms were not affected by the works.

Progress was challenged due to additional works appointed by the Client, however our Team worked tirelessly to adapt our Programme to meet these requests with minimum impact on the overall timescales.

‘The contract was completed on time with some delay for weather. During the course of the works some of the scope was increased, Kirkwoods coped well with the additional work and mitigation of hazards that this brought into play. Finishes were to a high standard and we have received many compliments on the finished facility from users.’
