We are incredibly proud to announce that our Chief Executive, Ian MacNaughton, has been presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce ICON Awards.
The ceremony, held at Greenock Town Hall, brought together the very best of Inverclyde’s business community to celebrate excellence, innovation, and dedication. Among a room of over 20 local organisations, the Chamber took a special moment to recognise Ian’s profound impact on the local landscape and his decades of service to the construction industry.
A Legacy of Excellence
Ian’s journey with W H Kirkwood began in the late 1970s. Since taking full ownership of the firm in 1984, he has steered the company through decades of growth, ensuring that W H Kirkwood remains a cornerstone of the Inverclyde business community.
Under Ian’s leadership, the company has been responsible for some of the region’s most significant restoration and redevelopment projects, including:
- The iconic redevelopment of Greenock’s Custom House.
- The essential structural work on the Greenock Municipal Buildings carriageway roof.
Celebrating the Community
The ICON Awards, hosted by Jennifer Reoch, highlighted the depth of talent within the region. While Ian’s award was a personal milestone, it also reflects the hard work and standard of excellence maintained by the entire W H Kirkwood team.
Chamber of Commerce President, Lizzy Todd, noted that the winners of the night continue to “lead with vision, care, and excellence” – qualities that Ian has championed within our firm for over 40 years.
We would like to extend our congratulations to all the other winners and finalists who make Inverclyde such a vibrant place to do business. For W H Kirkwood, this award serves as a wonderful reminder of where we have come from as we look forward to many more years of building and preserving our local community.
